Autumnal Colours in the Lake District

As we reach the end of October and move into November, the many thousands of trees in the Lake District start to take on a variety of distinctive colours.

Although it may be a little nippier than the summer months, it’s a wonderful time to visit the Lake District and enjoy some spectacular views, with Windermere, Grasmere, Buttermere and Derwent Water all popular locations.

September events in the Lake District

The summer holidays might be drawing to a close, but September is still a fantastic time to enjoy the Lake District – often enjoying good weather and reduced crowds, with plenty of events still taking place.

For spice lovers, why not consider the two-day Holker Chilli Fest on the 9th and 10th of September, or for a more traditional Lake District experience, how about the well-known Westmorland County Show on the 14th of September? Or how about Cumbria’s “biggest and best” food festival, Taste Cumbria, in Cockermouth on the 23rd and 24th of September?

Those preferring some exercise might want to consider one of the many cycling events taking place across the month, such as the 14 mile bike ride around Coniston. Or for hikers, why not consider joining in a climb up Scafell Pike from the 29th of September to the 1st of October?
